Pattern of Polymicrobial Isolates and Antimicrobial Susceptibility from Blood.
OBJECTIVE To determine the pattern of polymicrobial isolates in blood cultures and antimicrobial susceptibility in a tertiary care hospital of Karachi. STUDY DESIGN Cross-sectional study. PLACE AND DURATION OF STUDY Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT), Karachi, Pakistan, from September to November 2014. METHODOLOGY Blood culture samples were received from patients, which...
متن کاملAntimicrobial susceptibility profile of isolates from pediatric blood stream infections.
We describe the pathogens and their antimicrobial profile causing blood stream infections in children over a 4-year period. The commonest pathogens were: non-fermenting Gram negative bacilli other than Pseudomonas, Salmonella species, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella species. High rates of drug-resistance were observed.
متن کاملSkin and soft tissue infection: frequency of aerobic bacterial isolates and their antimicrobial susceptibility pattern.
In recent years, skin and soft tissue infections (SSTIs), particularly due to multidrugresistant pathogens is increasingly being encountered in clinical setting. SSTIs may range from simple uncomplicated superficial infections such as folliculitis, cellulitis, abscesses to deeper complicated infections such as necrotising fasciitis and diabetic foot. Complicated SSTIs contribute to longer hospi...
متن کاملIdentification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing of positive blood culture isolates from briefly incubated solid medium cultures.
INTRODUCTION Mass spectrometry Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption-Ionization Time-of-Flight (MALDI-TOF) helps in the rapid identification of microorganisms causing blood stream infection. Rapid and reliable methods are required to decrease the turnaround time for reporting antimicrobial susceptibility results from blood culture isolates. METHODS An evaluation was performed on the reliability of...
متن کاملAntimicrobial Susceptibility of Stenotrophomonas maltophilia Clinical Isolates from Blood Samples in Iran
Introduction: Stenotrophomonas maltophilia is a nosocomial multi drug resistant opportunistic pathogen which causes infections in vulnerable patients with cancer, cystic fibrosis and indwelling catheters. Methods: 45 clinical S. maltophilia isolates were collected from blood samples and identified by biochemical tests. Susceptibility to different antibiotics including co-trimoxazole, levofloxac...
